A museum and research centre is to come up here to showcase the talent of Swiss-French architect Le Corbusier, the man who designed Chandigarh. It will be the sixth such centre in the world.

The Sector 19 office of Le Corbusier, the place where the architect sat and draw plans for the City Beautiful, will be converted into the Le Corbusier Centre this October. The centre will preserve, interpret, research and display Corbusier’s works and maintain his legacy.

Chandigarh, April 14: For the intelligentsia in Punjab and Haryana, acclaimed architect Le Corbusier's name will always be held in the highest respect for gifting them the well-planned Chandigarh city.
Not many are aware that there exists a museum dedicated to him in Chandigarh.

Chandigarh today boasts of all those features which are required to get a world heritage status. The next step is the submission of a dossier to the UNESCO for its nomination. Amidst hectic activities which are underway, the city recently hosted a high powered team from UNESCO.

The Chandigarh administration in collaboration with UNESCO’s World Heritage Centre and the Archaeological Survey of India began a four-day workshop on “Management of Historic Urban Landscapes of the 20th Century” at the CII here today. The MC mayor was the chief guest.

The Archaeological Survey of India has asked the Chandigarh Administration to list its cultural heritage for placing its name on the tentative list of the Department of Culture for recommendation as a world heritage city status of the UNESCO.
