One response to “‘Punjab not serious about Heritage Buildings – Should learn from Rajasthan’ say international experts”

  1. Now the Punjab Government is hell bent on destroying the 140 year old magnificent District Court House in Kapurthala. This building complex represents an amalgam of three architectural styles Indo-Islamic, Sikh and British. The only replacement it needs is the roof on the upper level. The walls are three feet wide. At present it serves as the offices of the Deputy Commissioner, the Senior Superintendent of Police and the judicial offices headed by the District and Sessions Judge. All three are influential bureaucrats and because of their presence, the building complex is being maintained by the Public Works Department. The government wants to shift all these offices outside the city in a rural area. After that this complex will crumble and the Punjab Government will sell the ruins to a corporate house to fill its coffers. Is it acceptable?
