SGPC for special committee to preserve scriptures, relics of Sikh Gurus


MakkarCommenting on the discovery of the gravestone of the first Sikh woman to migrate to Britain, Maharani Jinda Kaur, which was in London’s Kensal Green Cemetry, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee(SGPC) president Avtar Singh Makkar said that SGPC would set up special committee  of Sikh intellectuals which would preserve, procure and check the authenticity of scriptures and  relic of Sikh Gurus and other great Sikh personalities  placed in India and abroad .
 
Speaking to media persons at Sirhind residence of senior Akali leader Amarinder Singh Libra, Makkar said that two members of the  panel will be from England while other members from India. He said that this committee of experts would clear many confusions.   

He said that SGPC wants to get control of Diwan Todar Mal Haveli as committee wants to develop it. He said that SGPC would talk to trust members who had purchased the Haveli. He said that the state government had already marked inquiry under which circumstances the Haveli was sold.

Makkar further stated that SGPC would develop four acre of land in memory of martyr Banda Singh Bahadur. He said that Rs 90 lakh has already been spent on Panjore where SGPC had 850 yards of land in memory of memorial of Guru Nanak Dev.

On current political statements of by PCCC president Rajinder Kaur Bhattal, Makkar said that separate Haryana SGPC is foolish idea by congressman.  He said that Bhattal should immediately apologize for making such statements that are nothing but move to divide Sikhs. He said that due to her conflict with former CM Capt Amarinder Singh, Bhattal had lost her mental balance so she is issuing unnecessary statements.

SGPC Director Education Dr Gurmohan Singh Walia, educationists Dr M.S. Grewal. Atamjit Singh, senior Akali leaders Ranjit Singh Libra, Amarinder Singh Libra, Jagdeep Singh Cheema, Gurdev Singh Khalsa also expressed their views.
