Include Bhai Vir Singh Memorial Museum on Archaeology Survey of India list

The writer who has made tremendous contributions in the field of writing, with many popular poems, novels and books to his credit, though no more with us, but something in the museum, which earlier was his residence, tells us a genius lived here.

The museum is well-preserved and houses his books, sword, clothing, spectacles, pen, flower vase, and some other equipment of his daily use. And to a side is preserved his office space, the furniture he used.

Bhai Vir Singh was a great lover of nature and so it’s not surprising to see the manicured lawns of the museum, situated on Lawrence Road, replete with flowers and fruit trees.

Inside, reference of his famous publications like ‘Sundri’, ‘Satwant Kaur’, ‘Rana Surat Singh’, ‘Pritam Ji’, and some others hang on the walls of the Museum, showcasing the impressions of his great works.

December 5 witnessed the birthday celebrations of Bhai Vir SIngh who was known as the father of modern Punjabi literature and was a recipient of Padam Bhushan Award.

They requested that the administration should include a special programme on Bhai Vir Singh during the annual Amritsar Heritage Festival. And as the writer was a great lover of nature, an annual flower arrangement competition could be held on his birth anniversary.

Copy of the letter has also been sent to S. Avtar Singh, President, SGPC, Director General, Archaeology Survey of India, Deputy Commissioner, Amritsar and S. Charnjit Singh Chadha, President Chief Khalsa Diwan.
