Visit to Patiala wows Smithsonian team

Later, the delegation held a round table meeting with the cultural experts from India in which the visiting members appreciated the historic buildings and offered help in maintaining these. They suggested that the expertise available with Smithsonian be used to maintain these ancient buildings.

Punjab principal secretary, cultural affairs, D.S. Jaspal, senior INTACH officials, representatives of Anandpur Sahib foundation and members of the district administration also accompanied the delegation.

The delegation expressed their awe after visiting the museums at Sheesh Mahal and Qila Mubarak. The members said the art pieces displayed in the museums were some the best in the world. The members of the delegation said it was a memorable visit to Patiala and Anandpur Sahib.

The delegation is here for a four-day tour that started yesterday that includes a visit to Anandpur Sahib. The delegation will be holding a two-day conference at Chandigarh, in which a number of cultural experts are expected to participate.
