Exhibition of miniature paintings inaugurated

Illustrated Buddhist palm leaf manuscripts, Jain manuscripts, Mughal miniature, Rajasthani and Pahari miniature and Sikh miniature portray the rich cultural heritage of India.

Some of the works have been displayed in the gallery.

Some works speak of the ancient old school ‘Basohli’ in the hills in which Rajasthan and Mughal styles have been visualized. t of them maintain the originality of Kangra and Guler and Rajasthani schools.

The burning passion on the faces of Basohli, the musical and lyrical quality of Kangra, the smooth rounded faces and small pursed mouths of Kotah, the vapid little faces of Bundi, elongated faces with huge fish typed eyes of Kishangarh etc. maintain their identity.
